​Michael Maugeri, LPTA, CSCS

Michael Maugeri was born and raised in Virginia Beach and was a graduate of First Colonial High School having lettered in varsity Soccer, Swimming, and Volleyball. Growing up in the water, surfing was also his passion.  He received his B.S. from James Madison University in 2006 where he discovered his passion for physical therapy.  He went on to further his education and became a licensed physical therapist assistant in 2011. 

DIVERSE PT EXPERIENCE: Michael has gained experience working in a variety of physical therapy settings including home health/assisted living facilities, specialized pediatric units, and outpatient orthopedics specializing in sports medicine.  Having found his passion working with athletes, Michael became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with a focus on bridging post-rehabilitation to return to play. Additionally, Michael is a certified TRX trainer, Sportsmetrics Trainer for ACL injury-prevention, and is a Functional Movement Specialist. ​

Additional Information

Mike has recently created a surf-specific program unique to Virginia Beach PTW for the rehabilitation and injury prevention of surfers from beginners, to groms, to pros. In his spare time, Michael enjoys spending time with his wife, Jenny, their 4 kids, Michael, McKenzie, Mason, and Miles, and their fur baby, Charlie.
