Direct Access

Do I have to have a prescription for physical therapy from my doctor?
  •  NO! In Virginia, you can come directly to physical therapy for evaluation without a doctor’s referral.  A direct access physical therapist may treat you without a referral, if you are not already receiving care from another healthcare practitioner. However, if your insurance policy requires a referral one must be obtained by your healthcare practitioner.

Will my insurance pay for a direct access evaluation and treatment?
  • Most insurance companies will pay for outpatient therapy. Depending on your insurance benefits co-pays, coinsurance, and/or deductibles may apply. For more information or questions on your personal benefits, please contact us.
